iPhone Virgin Media email asking for unknown IMAP password

my Virginmedia email isnt working on my iphone- i keep getting a message asking me to put in my IMAP password but i dont know what that is

iPhone SE, iOS 18

You always need a password for email. It's just that it's saved in the settings in the phone so you don't have to enter it manually.


I suggest that you try to log into your email from a web browser. Can you enter your password there? If you can't, then use whatever "Forgot Password" system Virgin offers to set up a new one.


Then, delete your email account from your phone in Settings>Apps>Mail. Add it back with the new password.
