Hi there,

Is there a way to stream media from my Macbook to my TV without using a game box? And I mean not only downloaded files but if I go on a site like Hulu and want to stream the feed of a TV show in real time to my TV?

Thx!

macbook, Mac OS X (10.5.7)

You need something that connects to your video port (DVI, mini-DVI, mini-Display, etc.) which depends on what model MB you have. Then a cable to connect from the adaptor to the TV. Apple has adaptors on their web site. One probably came with the computer - video port to VGA would be my guess. But there are adaptors for HDMI as well.

An Apple TV or similar device can be used to stream wirelessly from computer to TV.

Unless I misread or misunderstood, Apple TV can only read downloaded movie files that are on the computer. It cannot display in real time a show you're watching on Hulu or such sites.

    Am I wrong?

Have no idea. Never used one. There are other competing products. For example Netflix rents a device for $10/month that will stream anything they rent to your TV directly. This site has several devices. The D-link device is similar to Apple TV.

I believe all these devices can stream anything from the computer to your TV wirelessly. You'll have to do some research to find what's available and also compatible with the Mac.
