How to add Display Preferences icon to MacBook

Is there a way to put an icon in the menubar to open the display preferences, like in older Macbooks?

This is a 2025 Macbook Air running OS Sequoia 15.7.2.

And I guess I’ll ask the same question for OS 26. Looks like that is where we’re going.

Yes, you can put Display controls back in the menu bar, but the old Display Preferences icon no longer exists.

Instead, you can:

✔ Add the Display module to the Menu Bar (recommended)

✔ Add Screen Mirroring to the Menu Bar

✔ Create a custom menu bar shortcut using a Script

✔ Assign a keyboard shortcut to open Display Settings

All methods work on macOS Sequoia 15.7 and macOS 26.x.
