MacBook Pro: Settings crashes, low disk space
Hi, I'm using my mid 2012 MacBook pro (2.3ghz Quad core Intel core i7) running Catalina 10.15.7 and I have 2 related issues. Firstly, whenever I open 'settings' the mac crashes. I used disk utility to do First Aid on the drive, but no change. I have rebooted in recovery mode. I even tried to re-install the Catalina operating system in recovery mode, but it said I don't have enough space for it (11gb of a 250gb drive)... which brings me to issue 2. I have already backed up & deleted all the big files. It is only a 250GB internal drive, but there is hardly anything on there. I am using iCloud drive and have thousands of photos in iCloud. I feel like whatever space i create gets re-filled by iCloud - is that possible? Maybe there is a setting for that? But how can I alter it if I can't get into 'Settings'?
On rebooting again 'About this Mac' suggests I have 42.6gb free??? Hope someone can help.
