MacBook Wi-Fi stays connected after closing the lid

When I close my MacBook, every time I used to think that as I lock, it goes to sleep and automatically cut off the network, but today when I checked my Wi-Fi, I realised that even after closing the lid, it is still connected to the network.... how can I fix this??

Your MacBook stays connected to Wi-Fi when closed because of Power Napnetwork wakeFind My, or background apps.

To make Mac disconnect Wi-Fi when the lid closes:

  1. Turn off Power Nap
  2. Turn off Wake for network access
  3. Turn off Find My Mac (optional)
  4. Stop apps preventing sleep
  5. Manually sleep the Mac when you want full disconnect

The behavior is normal.

There are background processes that may take place when the MacBook lid is closed and while the computer is still operational. It’s really nothing to worry about.

if you’re concerned about the situation then the fix is to shut down the MacBook between uses.

Rebooting the Mac takes only seconds to bring it to its normal state including opening previous apps and windows.
