Old, downloaded films won't playback on Apple Tv on Macbook Air

If I download an old film, eg Falling Down onto my 2020 Macbook Air it won't play. The playback window flashes up then disappears - this doesn't happen with eg Pluribus, this is fine as it downloads and then plays. I'm updated to Tahoe and it is still happening. What do I need to do? Is it to do with the fact that my Apple account is registered in the UK but I often try to watch films abroad or on flights?
