Trying to restore from Time Machine, wired mouse stopped working. How do I wake up computer and click "continue"?

My iMac (~2023? M1 I think? unsure of OS) went black yesterday. I'm trying to do a time machine backup restore, and I got to the screen where you pick a time to backup, and my USB mouse stopped working. Keyboard (USB) too. I can't click "continue." What do I do now?

(My screen has now gone black [asleep] and I can't wake it up by moving the mouse or hitting anything on the keyboard. Argh!) Please help!

iMac 24″, macOS 13.1

Well, I don't even know what exactly I did. It wouldn't let me back up from the Time Machine external drive. I don't remember the message I got. So I tried to reinstall Ventura. It wouldn't let me do that because I didn't have a real internet connection (problems with my provider so I've been using my phone as a hotspot). THEN I used disk utility for...everything. Took forever, during which the wired mouse and keyboard again stopped working, so once it got through everything I shut the computer off, turned it back on...and got my regular desktop! No idea what happened, but I'm very happy to have my computer back. Thank you so much for trying to help out a techno-moron!
