Accessibility tips for neurodivergent users
As a neurodivergent user, I was struggling with the aesthetic changes to 26.1. The blurred effects of Liquid Glass distracted me so much that I forgot what I had picked up my phone to do and had to write it down before using my phone. I also found the limited screen space more difficult to contextualise content on my screen. I was desperate fix this and even tried to learn how to uninstall the upgrade. Fortunately I stumbled across how to change accessibility settings. Searching “how to remove Liquid Glass” will give you lots of good options to adjust accessibility settings. I followed the steps below:
- Open the Settings app.
- Tap on Accessibility.
- Select Display & Text Size.
- Toggle on Reduce Transparency (this made the menus and backgrounds less see-through and in my opinion felt like it gave me more screen space)
- Toggle on Increase Contrast (this gave more clarity)
- Toggle on Differentiate Without Color (this changed my colour scheme - I’ve decided to try a few different colour schemes to see if one helps my comprehension and accuracy, e.g. not muddle words or misread messages)
I’m interested to hear from the community if anyone has other accessibility setting tips they found useful from 26.1?
