Should I wait to install the new iOS 26.1 version

Should I wait to install the new iOS 26.1 update? I use a iPhone 11 as my main phone and have had it for a couple years and I saw today that there was a new update for iOS which is 26.1 so should I wait a couple days? I’ve heard that there are several bugs with it and don’t want anything bad to happen. I turned off automatic updates for now so it Dosent automatically update for me can anyone help?

iPhone 11, iOS 18

It is unlikely that your apps will become useless if you update. iOS 26 has been out since September. Apps that are being actively supported have been updated.

You should make whatever choice you're comfortable with but don't make it based on faulty information.

Was your device Jailbroken? If that's the situation, please be informed that attributing the issues to iOS updates may not be accurate.

I have been updating my devices ever since I bought my first device in 2009. iPhone 3Gs, 4S, 5, 6, SE (1st Gen), 7, 8 and iPhone 12 Pro, iPad Pro, iPhone 13, Macbook Air 2019, MacBook Pro 16"

I never had any issues with any iOS, iPadOS, or macOS updates to date.

I would personally recommend everyone update their devices instead of listening to rumors from people who may not have kept their devices free from any spurious software.

iOS / iPadOS devices cannot be hacked or infected with Virus / Malware / Spyware if it is updated to the latest iOS/iPadOS unless you have intentionally downloaded spurious software or unauthorized apps directly from the internet and installed them on your device or/and have Jailbroken

iOS updates generally aim to enhance user experience, boost security, and fix bugs rather than disrupt core features. Issues after updates might stem from underlying, unmentioned factors. Updates won't typically alter personal data but may refine settings or features. Backup before major updates for safety. Review Apple's update details and backup advice for a smooth process.

This seems purely coincidental, so please check the settings on your device.

No one can tell what's right for you. But I can tell you that in all the years I've owned an iPhone and I get the new model every years, since iPhone 3G, I've NEVER had an issue caused by an update. Forums are filled with people mostly complaining. But the vast majority of users are out and about enjoying their phones and lives without issue. It's like visiting a hospital, seeing sick people and then coming to the conclusion everyone is sick everywhere.

iOS 26.1 will introduce new features and changes from what you're accustomed to. Mostly people complain because things look different, or things have been moved. That doesn't mean there's anything wrong with iOS 26.1. In fact, I LOVE iOS 26 and Liquid Glass, personally.

Just to let you know I’m still on IOS 18 if that’s important

It doesn't change the fact that, once iOS 26.2 comes out, you won't be able to update to iOS 26.1. Will you go through the same thought process again, thus delaying the update even further? Eventually, you'll either have to update or resign yourself to being unable to use a lot of apps.

I'm not telling you what you should do or judging your decisions.

If you are planning to upgrade your phone soon. Just upgrade it to iOS 26.1 for new experience. Honestly the 11 is 6 years old by now and having overheating issues is expected just to let you know. Peace

No, overheating issues are not to be expected unless there is something wrong with the phone. If your phone is telling you it's overheating and shutting down, and you are not in environmental conditions that would warrant this, there is something wrong with your phone. I would recommend that you have Apple run diagnostics, which would be free. It's possible that the only issue is that it needs a new battery. A new battery can be a very inexpensive way to get another year out of a phone.

I’ve heard that there are several bugs with it and don’t want anything bad to happen.

iOS 26.1 fixes bugs in previous versions of iOS 26, so you will have fewer bugs if you update to iOS 26.1. The next update after 26.1 will fix bugs in 26.1. and on it goes.

Truth be known though, there are bugs in every iOS release, so you will always find posts from users advising to wait, no matter what version you might be thinking about.

I've also "heard" that the earth is flat, since there plenty of sites available that claim to prove this, but so far I am not convinced.
