My iPod Touch (model MC011LL, version 5.1.1 (9B206)) won't sync with Music. (Late 2014 Mini, OS 12.7.6). It does not appear on the desktop; Music shows it in the left-side menu but the main screen in Music endlessly shows "loading". Disk Utility also does not show it. Any ideas, please?

To sync your music, choose one of these:
✔ Best: Use an older Mac with iTunes (10.6–12.4)
✔ Easiest: Use a Windows PC with iTunes
✔ Possible but unreliable: Reset trust settings and USB permissions on Monterey
This is a compatibility problem, not a hardware failure.
Not sure why compatibility would have changed, the sync used to work with the setup shown in the original question...
