Glitchy 2FA Messages on Mac Desktop

2FA messages have recently been glitchy on my Mac desktop - sometimes they are received instantly, sometimes it takes several minutes to receive. How do I fix this?

Apple ID authentication failure for Messages and FaceTime on MacBook Start Messages. Get prompted to log in. After entering log-in information, Messages appears to start, but the Settings shows that it is still trying to Sign in. It eventually fails, and goes back to the above screen. For FaceTime, similar behaviour. Log in, wait and application goes goes back to log-in prompt. Internet connection is fine. I've tried on two different networks. All other apps working fine. Verified, changed and re-verified my Apple ID and password. Logged our and in. Reset computer. Date and Time are accurate. No updates available for MacOS Ventura (13.7.8) Reset NVPRM (twice). How do I send a reply to a text message from an unknown number on my Mac? Someone recently sent me a "message" from a phone number. A white number 1 appeared in a red circle above my "messages" tool/menu bar, whatever it's called. I clicked on it and it revealed a text message from a phone number. I attempted to reply to it on my desk top computer. I typed a message in the reply box. How do I send it? I didn't see anything that indicated "send." But then in the muddled, confusing, system known as 'computer protocol' I'm not surprised that it is near impossible to figure out... Can anyone help me with a SIMPLIFIED answer?
