macOS keyboard shortcut for language input reverts

I expirience weird and annoying bug in macOS 26 (still there in 26.1) (Macbook pro 16 with M2 Pro) that wasn't there in previous versions.

I mostly use external, non Apple, keyboard so there is no separate "globe" button that can be used for changing language.

So i have shortcut (CMD + Space) for "previous input source". I have to switch between English and Ukranian pretty frequently.

Sometimes, after changing via shortcut - next key press - changes language back.

In other cases - I see that it is changed mid shortcut and after - changes back.

It is very annoying when you have to use both languages in your text/message.

Mostly - it changes normally on 5-10th try.

Because of that - it seems more reliable to change it in control center, instead of keyboard shortcut - but that is slow and, yet again, annoying.

Have anyone else expirienced that or I am just crazy and that is exclusive issue with my mac ?

Still I suggest you try the default and see if it helps solve the problem. Also try using Caps Lock instead. Plus try using the Fn key, if there is one, since it is essentially the same as Globe.

First, the standard keyboard shortcut is Control-Shift-space.

Command-space is the default shortcut for Spotlight, and I would not recommend that you reassign that.

Are you seeing the menu at the center of your screen when changing input sources?

Also, instead of using Control Center, you can use the Menu Bar, it is one less step.

Just make sure to have "Show Input menu in menu bar" turned ON.

Are you often using the Caps Lock key?

There used to be a setting to "Use Caps Lock to switch input source".

I tried to find this. Oddly enough when I search for it in System Settings, the text appears in the search but not in the settings proper...

That mini menu with input sources is visible if i hold shortcut, instead of just fast press.

But it makes no difference. If bug occured - it happens in both: fast change and hold variant (with that menu).

Sometimes I think that is some "smart" logic for language detection that thinks i changed input source by accident and forces it back.

Well, it is off, so does not seem to be the cause of issue.

Sometimes I wish to have Feedback app on release OS versions, not just on Betas so such staff can be reported.

Caps lock is only possible between latin and non-latin keyboards. If you have a non-latin input source it will appear as the 2nd item on the list in your image.
