Mouse recommendations for MacBook Air M3

Hi All,

What brand of mouse is best for MacBook air M3? Only needed temporarily (broken arm), prefer 3rd party brand.

Prefer USB-C connected or bluetooth, but not sure how to use bluetooth mouse.

Have been fine with touchpad for years.

Thank you.

Go with a basic two-button mouse.

If this is a temporary situation then there's no reason to spend for extra features.

And again, since this is temporary, find a USB connected mouse. Bluetooth is fine, but there may be the occasion when Bluetooth may not be working and the basic USB mouse is required. We see this sort of situation happen pretty often. One can never go wrong to keep a USB mouse and USB keyboard tucked in a drawer for troubleshooting.

Logitech B100 USB Mouse Black - amazon

You're overthinking this. At this level a basic mouse is pretty much a dime-a-dozen commodity. Either of these examples will work just fine with your Mac.

This particular Logitech mouse is made with a USB-A plug. It will require the use of an adapter to connect to your Mac. I included a link to an appropriate adapter in my second post, but you can search Amazon or any other retailer for others.

This particular Lenovo mouse is built with a USB-C plug and requires no adapter.

HI D.I.,

Thank you for the sage advice. My MacBook Air M3 requires a USB-C connector, which I believe plugs into a left side port (am I correct on that?). And of course my left arm will be in a slight for 8 weeks (ouch!)

Very much appreciate your specific brand suggestion: will that Logitech B100 work with a USB-C port? The Lenova USB-C 2 button mouse?

Which of the two do you prefer?

What is a USB-A used for??? (not my area of expertise)

Good thinking….

thank you D.I. & Rudegar:

Correct me if I'm misreading.

So Logitech is a more reliable brand, but it does not use USB-C connection. So requires an adaptor: can you suggest one? I usually bop into the Apple store, but they are always more $$$.

Lenovo is sometimes a store brand, that sells older models or OEM manufacturers. Does Lenovo use USB-C (which I would prefer) or does it vary with model?

Very much appreciate your enlightenment on these issues.

You're welcome.

Yes, your MBA has USB-C ports on the left edge.

Either of those mice will work with your Mac, though the Logitech would require the use of a USB-A to USB-C plug adapter.

I prefer a trackpad over any mouse, but would probably choose the Logitech in this case.

USB-A is the older, ubiquitous wide connector found on most computers and peripherals for the past twenty five or so years. USB-C is the smaller replacement found on newer computers such as yours.
