MacBook Pro M1 cannot connect to Epson projector

Cant connect Epson 480 projector to M1 MBP Tahoe 26.1

My MacBook Pro M1 running Tahoe 26.1 won't recognize my HDMI input from my Epson 480 projector.

In Displays, the Epson does not show up.

My iPad has no issue - I can connect via HDMI using a USBc adapter. It recognizes it and mirrors. But plug the exact same adapter into the M1, the display will not see it. I've also tried option/detect display, and no luck.

Why won't the M1 see the projector?

It appears I have solved this.

While the Settings/Display was not showing the projector at all, there was at the top ribbon menu of the screen, a 'Mirror Display' icon that appeared out of nowhere that I stumbled upon. Once I clicked it and chose my mirroring/extending option, it now recognized the Epson.

epson power lite 480 XGA 3LCD projector is a 1024 by 768 short-throw projector with HDMI interface (only).

MacBook Pro M1 does not appear to have an HDMI port.

to use an adapter/cable, the USB portion must be shorter than ONE meter.

The HDMI portion can be somewhat longer, but best results are obtained from HDMI cables shorter than 3 meters.

¿Do your cables meet those standards?
