Missing "Share Contact" Option in iOS 26.1 Messages App "Plus" Menu.
Hello,
I am experiencing an issue in the Messages app on iPhone running iOS 26.1.
When composing a message and tapping the “+” (plus) menu, I see options to share photos, files, location, health data, and other content. However, there is no option to share a contact directly from this menu.
Steps I followed:
- Open Messages app.
- Start composing a new message.
- Tap the “+” icon.
- Check available sharing options.
- Contact sharing is missing.
Workarounds I found:
- I can open the Contacts app, select a contact, and use Share Contact → Messages to send it. Work only for saved contacts
- NameDrop works only if both devices are compatible and nearby.
Impact / Problem:
- This prevents me from quickly sharing contact cards directly while composing a message.
- It makes OTPs, activation links, and other important communications harder when I want to share contacts quickly.
- It is inconsistent with other “+” menu options that allow sharing other types of data directly.
I have checked:
- Spam, Promotions, and Filters do not affect this.
- Other iOS updates (iOS 26.1) still do not provide a contact share option in the Messages “+” menu.
Request:
Please consider restoring or adding the ability to share contacts directly from the “+” menu in Messages, similar to how photos, location, and files can be shared.
Device info:
- iPhone Model: 17 Pro Max
- iOS Version: 26.1
- Messages app: Default iOS app
Thank you for considering this request.
