How did Apple charge me for my SiriusXM account through CarPlay?

I got charged from "Apple" for my Sirius account which was labelled expired. I got into my car yesterday and turned on my Sirius in Car Play and I received a popup stating my Sirius account had expired and I needed to reinstate it for $99. I did, but today I wondered how Apple would drive my Sirius subscription. Can anyone help?

CarPlay is linked to your iPhone. Any Apps on CarPlay come from your iPhone not your car.

If the App on your iPhone had an expired subscription and you tried to use it would have needed to renew your subscription. Subscriptions in Apps on your iPhone are handled by Apple directly

If you have a different app for SiriusXM directly on your car's display outside of CarPlay, then you have just doubled up on the subscription.

The app on your car's display and the app in CarPlay are 2 different and separate Apps and would have 2 different and separate subscriptions.
