MacBook Pro: Finder save dialog slow with iCloud Drive

Hello. I use a MacBook Pro M4 Max, which I upgraded to MacOS Tahoe about two months ago. The current version is 26.1. The device has been working stably all this time.

A few days ago, a problem arose: when saving files, such as Word and other light files, the Finder window with the option to choose where to save it started to load for 10 seconds. All other processes on the computer work quickly.

In search of a solution, I tried disabling the synchronization of the Desktop and Documents with iCloud Drive. This helped. But when I turned it back on, the problem returned.

Next, I tried to stop synchronization with iCloud. I went back to my Apple Account. I deleted CloudData. All data was restored and the problem returned.

Please advise if you have encountered this problem. If so, are there any ways to solve it? Thank you.

It depends on what country you are in as to where your iCloud Drive data is stored, and what the network health is between your location and the nearest Apple iCloud servers.

I am about 13 traceroute hops to the Apple iCloud Servers here in the U.S. and regardless of the operating system, and my normally brisk Internet connection, there are a few occasions where there is lag saving to or accessing content from iCloud Drive. That lag might be caused by any number of factors between you and the Apple iCloud servers. Factors that you have no control over.

As a worst case scenario, I may use an alternative Internet connection through another ISP rather than attempt to change System settings that have been working.
