MacBook Pro M2 Max Logic Board Issues confused if i should get it repaired

Hey everyone so my MacBook Pro M2 Max suddenly developed a vertical line in the middle of the display. There’s no damage at all was able to fix it with a hard reset once but the line came back after a few days. Since the screen was still usable i ignored it for a while and planned to switch to an external monitor.

Now after a recent macOS update a bigger problem started the Mac now shuts down and restarts randomly during use and it also restarts every time I close the lid for about 50 to 60 seconds. Apple couldn’t clearly pinpoint the exact cause and quoted me around $1,000 for replacing both the display and the logic board which ig is reasonable but I’m worried about what happens after the 90-day repair warranty If something else fails I’ll be stuck again. I went to a repair shop outside but they also quoted just 10% less than Apple. (Im from Delhi,India)

Now I’m confused do i take 1k as a discount and buy a new base MacBook Pro M5 with 24 GB RAM 512gb or should i take the risk and repair this M2 Max with 32 GB RAM and 1 TB storage? I mainly use it for Video editing/Color grading with heavy on effects sometimes.

Would really appreciate any advice and has anyone been in a similar situation? do people usually face new issues after major replacements like this?

Vertical artifacts on your display are almost always problems with the display itself. There is no other place except inside the display where the concept of vertical exists. The data are stored internally and transmitted to the display as ROWS of pixels.

Genius Bar technicians are not trained to read panic reports and other software-based discovery reports.

They recommended solutions that will definitely fix any lingering hardware issues, guaranteed.

--------

Kernel Panic Reports are stored in the Folder at:

/Library/Logs/DiagnosticReports

If you copy and paste that string into:

Finder > Go menu > Go to Folder

it will take you to the Folder where those reports are stored.

Kernel panic reports are named with Date&Time and start or end in ‘panic’

If you find one, please post as much as you can here, by using the “additional text” Icon in the reply footer (looks like a paper with writing). (Once the report devolves into incessant software-names or incessant Base-64 dumps with lots of AAAAAA lines, you are done.)

Please don’t post more about 20 lines of any other types of reports — they are interminable, and any information useful for this purpose is on the first screenful.

If you post your kernel panic here in its entirety, using the additional text icon in the reply footer, we do have some Readers (typically with developer background) who can attempt to interpret those panic reports. Even if no clear symptom emerges, this can still save a step if you DO need to contact Apple support later, because Apple Support specialists can read the panic reports you posted here, if you tell them what discussion or what Avatar.

Parts and labor for Repairs are only warrantied for 90-days.

An external monitor would a work-a-round bypassing your internal display issue.
