Car play notification tap not announcing message

I have car play communications entitlement and now able to see push notifications in car play display head unit. Problem I face is on tap of notification banner in car play, the message is not read out by siri / car play. Instead my app gets opened and nothing happens. I need to get the message read out loud just like messages/whatsapp notification tap.

This is the category I have and I set right category in my notification service extension too. With this I'm able to see the notification but read out of content is not happening.

        let messageCategory = UNNotificationCategory(
            identifier: "MESSAGE_CATEGORY",
            actions: [],
            intentIdentifiers: [INSendMessageIntentIdentifier],
            options: [
                .allowInCarPlay,
            ]
        )

There is a feature called "Speak Selection" which allows you to have the selected text read out loud by the device. This feature is part of the accessibility options on iPhones and can be enabled in the Settings app under "Accessibility" > "Spoken Content" > "Speak Selection."

"Spoken Content," on the other hand, refers to a different accessibility feature introduced in iOS 14. It provides a more comprehensive text-to-speech experience by reading aloud the entire screen content, including app interfaces, web pages, and messages, without the need to select specific text. This feature can be enabled in the Settings app under "Accessibility" > "Spoken Content."

The pic below is self-explanatory

If CarPlay doesn't detect your iPhone, make sure CarPlay isn't restricted. Go to Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions. If Content & Privacy Restrictions are turned on, tap Allowed Apps and make sure CarPlay is enabled. Go to Settings > General > CarPlay, tap your car, and then tap Forget This Car.

If you're still having trouble with your car's audio system using CarPlay or Bluetooth, try the Aux cable. To get it fixed, there are two options:

  1. Take your car to a reputable car dealer or car audio specialist. They have experienced technicians who can diagnose the problem with the Aux cable. This could be a loose connection, a faulty cable itself, or an issue with the system's Aux port. They'll be able to repair the issue or recommend a replacement cable if needed.
  2. Consult your car's infotainment system manuals. These manuals often include troubleshooting sections that might address common Aux cable problems. You might find instructions for resetting the system, cleaning the Aux port, or confirming the cable's compatibility.

Before taking your car to a dealer, it's always a good idea to check the manuals first. This can sometimes save you time and money if it's a simple fix you can handle yourself. However, if the manuals don't offer a solution, or you're uncomfortable tinkering with the system, then a car audio specialist is the way to go.

Content & Privacy Restrictions -- turned off

Other messaging apps has the functionality working as expected (on tap of notification, message is read out).

I beleive my issue is related to code level where I'm missing something. The documentation from apple on how the car play notification's function is also very little (found under section Notifications in https://developer.apple.com/download/files/CarPlay-Developer-Guide.pdf)
