You may receive messages claiming to be from "Apple", the "Police", etc., trying to get you to

  • Provide your Apple Account credentials, or
  • Remove your phone from the list of devices associated with your Apple ID

These messages are not from Apple or the police, but from the thief or fence, who is trying to trick you into clearing Activation Lock (or giving them the information they need to do it), so they can "make your phone their own."

Don't fall for it!
