To me it sounds like there may be issues with the click timing delay, or the button itself not working properly. If you press the button once it returns to lock screen. You may need to adjust the delay timing or how quickly you press the button. Read this support article about doing that. Adjust settings for the side or Home button on iPhone - Apple Support

We are all Apple users, like yourself, in the community, so no-one here has access to your accounts or details. We don't have much info. to go on in order to help troubleshoot, as there are various possible reasons why.


Your Apple Account is the account you use to access Apple services like the App Store, Apple Music, iCloud, iMessage, FaceTime, and more. It includes the email address and password you use to sign in as well as the contact, payment, and security details you use across Apple services. You can check you are signed in on your iPhone with your correct Apple Account details for purchases:

Sign in to your Apple Account on the web or in your device settings - Apple Support


You might want to check:

✽ 1. Whether you have added a valid payment method that Apple can accept in your country or region:

See which: Payment methods that you can use with your Apple Account - Apple Support


If needed: How to Add a payment method to your Apple Account - Apple Support

You may need to allow 24 hours for updates to come into effect.

✽ 2. Whether your iPhone's iOS version is up-to-date with the latest bug-fixes, security updates etc.

We don't know which iPhone model you have, oe which iOS version is installed.

You could check for updates in Settings > General > Software Updates.

If you choose to update, or upgrade, it is wise to first back-up your iPhone


If your iPhone is already up-to-date with the newest update version for that iPhone model:

You may want to restart your iPhone (re-stablishes connections, and more : often restores order.)

✽ 3. Check if any purchase restrictions are set (for App Store etc).... also ScreenTime restrictions if set

Change settings and restrictions in the App Store on iPhone - Apple Support

or

Block apps, app downloads, websites, and purchases on iPhone - Apple Support

or

Settings > ScreenTime > Content and Privacy Restrictions > iTunes & App Store Purchases
