Updating Legacy Stylus RMX User Libraries - How to create REX Files?

Hi all,

I'm using Logic Pro version 11.2 on Macbook M1 - Sonoma

- I have a few old legacy songs using the old app Stylus RMX. I got it updated to the latest version 1.10 - and it seems to work OK however it is not seeing my legacy user libraries

Upon inspection – I noticed that the user libraries are very old and inside the folders is a file called audio with no extension and shows as UNIX executable file.

- I tried adding the extension to it like

Audio.aif - and that does seem to turn it into an audio file.

So I think the next thing I need to do is somehow convert these so that the Stylus RMX - can read them.

It seems I might need to turn these and convert them into REX files - but I'm not sure how to proceed.

Any ideas would be appreciated

Thanks – Dave

Thank you so much CCTMusic for your help.

You are right! As it turns out - I was a bit rusty using stylus RMX - and at first it was not working correctly - and then it did start working - but because I was rusty – it took me a while to remember where to load the user libraries - and when I did go there yes they were all working as is. So I'm very happy about that – thanks again.

I noticed that your audio files kind = document - and my audio file kind = UNIX executable file ( mac M1 - Sonoma) - originally this threw me off but I guess I could just leave it as is since it's working fine.

Curious what is your Mac Os version?

Thanks again for the help – Dave

Hi,

(Mac os Sonoma with latest Stylus RMX)

I am a bit rusty looking at some old Logic Pro files using Stylus RMX

On a legacy file I noticed that I have eight tracks of RMX

On various tracks I believe I have dragged the beats onto the track - and I can see the name of the beat.

An example is one track 2 that says "After Hours 01". - when I look at the plug-in - track two is empty - so I have to try to find that beat somewhere in the collection - of the various libraries including user libraries.

Right now I have to individually load up each library directory and manually look for that name - which can take quite some time - and then choose it.

- Q: Since I know the name of the beat "After Hours 01" - I am wondering if there is a way to easily search for it inside stylus RMX ?

- Q: after I find all these Beats and add them to Stylus RMX - is there a way to save this particular set for future use?

Thanks Dave

Hi

The "Browser" in RMX is somewhat lacking by today's standards.

You could try using the Finder search function (File > Find) to search through the SAGE folder... seems to do the trick

Q2: I'd save the RMX Multi within the plugin ( Gear icon bottom right) and/or save the Logic Channel Strip as a Patch?
