By "throat," are you referring to the rubber seal between the display assembly and the deck? We see occasional reports here of the rubber becoming sticky. It usually happens in hot, humid environments. As you fellow end users we cannot physically examine your computer. Thus I recommend asking Apple to evaluate it and comment.
