People hear me very low or can’t hear me during calls after iPhone migration
I bought a second-hand iPhone 14 Pro (512 GB) and transferred my data from my old iPhone XS using the Wi-Fi migration process. From the very beginning, I noticed serious audio issues during phone calls: people could barely hear me or couldn’t hear me at all.
What is strange is that:
- Voice memos and WhatsApp audio recordings work perfectly (loud and clear).
- The microphone seems fine in all other apps.
- I reset network settings, checked all audio settings, cleaned the device, and followed all recommended troubleshooting steps except a full factory reset and manual setup.
However, during regular phone calls the issue kept happening repeatedly.
Sometimes, if I switched to speaker mode during a call and then back to the earpiece, the audio would partially recover and the other person could hear me better again.
Because of this, I requested a refund and received another iPhone 14 Pro (512 GB). This time, I believe I restored it from a computer backup instead of using Wi-Fi migration. Everything worked perfectly: no audio issues at all. At that point, I assumed the first phone had a hardware microphone problem.
Two weeks ago, I bought a second-hand iPhone 16 Pro and migrated my data without issues. I then gave the perfectly working iPhone 14 Pro to my brother. He migrated his data from an old iPhone 12 to the iPhone 14 Pro using Wi-Fi migration — and exactly the same audio issue appeared again.
Same behavior, same symptoms:
- Very low or no microphone audio during phone calls.
- Other audio recordings work fine.
- Temporary improvement when switching speaker on/off during a call.
This strongly suggests that there may be a problem related to Wi-Fi migration from older iPhones to newer models, possibly due to some configuration or setting that does not migrate correctly and affects call audio only.
Is there any known issue related to this?
Has anyone experienced similar problems after migrating via Wi-Fi instead of setting up the iPhone as new or restoring from a computer backup?
