Search for mailboxes in email

Search in Mail hasn’t found Mailboxes in several years. There were posts about it no longer doing that at the time it was removed.

If that changed since then, I wouldn’t know as I've never had a need for the feature.

I thought you meant something else.

You can’t search within a specific mailbox directly. (And you can’t search for a mailbox name.)

When you enter your search criteria, you’ll see that the search results are for all mailboxes (as indicated in the top left of the sidebar.) To refine the search results, select the specific mailbox in the sidebar.

seems that would be sometime after Big Sur and definitely before now. As I said, it was several years ago, but I cannot recollect exactly when. If you search these forms, you may find questions about it from when it was removed.

I try to avoid using email at all costs, and my organization of emails is to delete them, so I’ve had no interest in finding a mailbox by name.

Given that, I can’t remember when the feature was removed. I just remember seeing the questions posted here.

If you are using the Column Layout for search results, right-click the column headers and add the Mailbox field.
