How to troubleshoot extremely slow MacBook Pro?

No one here will contact you directly. Contact Apple Support or take your computer to an authorized service center for inspection or post an etrecheck report here so that we can see what may be affecting the speed of your computer.

This description matches the " MacBook Pro (15-inch, 2019)  with the follow hardware configurations

• 2.3GHz
  • 2.3GHz 8-core Intel Core i9, Turbo Boost up to 4.8GHz, with 16MB shared L3 cache
  • Configurable to 2.4GHz 8-core Intel Core i9, Turbo Boost up to 5.0GHz, with 16MB shared L3 cache

According to the below link from Apple

This computer Does Not Qualify to run macOS 26 Tahoe

macOS Tahoe is compatible with these computers

Should all this be true and accurate the machines performance would be expected running a " Hacked " Version of Tahoe

And as such, it is doubtful we can offer addition support aside from Starting Over and install the version of macOS the machines Qualifies to operate

macOS Sequoia is compatible with these computers

Owl-53, it seems that the OP may have a 16” MBP, in which case it is supported by Tahoe. I had one with those exact specs, now being used by a family member. It is not, however, running Tahoe, so I can’t speak about how it would perform. We may find out if the OP does post the Etrecheck report.

If you post the Etrecheck report, as was recommended, we can look for possible software issues. Usually after an upgrade problems turn out to be caused by old or incompatible software.

The report does not convey any private information.
