"IOS 18.7.4
This update extends the certificate required by features such as iMessage, FaceTime, and device activation to continue working after January 2027."
and I can’t update I have iPhone 14 anyone else having the same issue?
Apple took away the option to update to any version of iOS 18 on phones which are capable of updating to iOS 26, such as your iPhone 14 or iPhone 12 mini. This happened when iOS 18.7.3 came out. If you prevented your iPhone from automatically installing iOS 26, it was possible to manually update as far as iOS 18.7.2 prior to that.
And have a compatible iPhone that can update to iOS 18.7.4 but keep getting iOS 26 update please explain?
If Apple refuses to offer iOS 18.7.4 to phones capable of updating to iOS 26, it looks like you (and I) will be forced to update to iOS 26 if we want Messages, FaceTime, etc. to keep working after January of next year.
Re: “Ios 18.7.7 not showing my phone”
If your iPhone is recent enough that it can run iOS 26, iOS 18.7.7 will not show on your phone.

I've had it 11mos ~ after an update 4-6 mo ago left at 88% battery capacity]
You mentioned previously that iOS 26 AI may finish off your phone, but you should know that Apple Intelligence will not be installed on your phone because it is not supported on that device. Also, your iPhone SE is designed to have 500 charges cycles before the battery needs to be replaced when it drops below 88%. On average that results in a drop of about 1% in battery health a month, which puts you right in that range and does not indicate a problem.
The device was released over 3 years ago, so it is unknown when the manufacturer date of the battery was, even if it was purchased 11 months ago. The age of the battery also affects Battery Health along with the Battery Cycles.
I've got 18.7.2
I thought I could opt out of upgrade to ios26
I took same option with last month's security update but it's not offered just the new 26
battery is 88 health in 1 yr
26 AI may finish off my little iPhone SE3
with 15 chip
Thank you for your time.
Cheers!

I have three SE3 phones, working just fine on iOS26.2
I prefer to get the latest security updates, and there is so little extra functionality that the battery is not affected after the usual 2 day settling.
If you don't like the glassiness...
Either
Settings, Display & Brightness , Liquid glass, set to Tinted instead of Glassy
Or one or more of these
Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size, reduce transparency
Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size , increase contrast
Settings, Accessibility, Motion, Reduce motion
Settings, Accessibility, Display & Text size , Display Borders
Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community
So I did it.
Hate it.
But, at least my battery hasn't gone super nuclear ☢️ hot.
So far, anyway....🤞
I do thank everyone for taking time out to respond ❗️Much appreciated 💙
Especially nice, given as we now reside in the dumbest possible dystopian version of a parallel universe or adjacent to perhaps overlapping another upside down Twilight Zone world..
Happy Holidays & best wishes navigating all the journeys you+yours make over this season and into the New Year❗️

As far as heat, lag, and battery usage immediately after the update, make sure to give it about 3 days to finish indexing files in the background and to perform object detection algorithms on your photo library. Apple documents that you will likely experience those things for a short period of time after an update, so that part should be expected.
They just released iOS 18.7.4 and I can’t update I have iPhone 14 anyone else having the same issue? And have a compatible iPhone that can update to iOS 18.7.4 but keep getting iOS 26 update please explain?

That's correct. Apple released iOS 18.7.4 today for iPhones which are NOT capable of being updated to iOS 26.2.1. And they released iOS 26.2.1 for iPhones capable of running iOS 26. Your phone will NOT be offered the iOS 18.7.4 update because your phone is capable of updating to iOS 26.2.1. If you want the security updates and bug fixes on your phone, then you have to update to iOS 26.2.1.

According to Apple security releases - Apple Support, Apple released
today. Presumably all have the new certificate needed for iMessages to work after January 2027. There are no new releases of iOS 13, 14, and 17, as there are no iPhones for which iOS 13, 14, or 17 is the end of the line.
You will always find people who claim an iOS update caused issues on their phone. But for the most part, no, iOS 26 and the newer updates to it have been very stable. You will note there are differences and you will need to get used to the new operating system. For example, the search bar is now on the bottom of the screen as opposed to the top of the screen. Some people really don't like that, but motor memory is easily retrained. Probably the biggest change is Liquid Glass. I REALLY LIKE Liquid Glass. But some don't and I wrote this to help people if they want to make changes to how it looks --> Liquid Glass - Love It Or Hate It - It's … - Apple Community
.....if I go ahead and update to iOS 26.2.1 are there issues on iPhone 14?
Probably over a billion users have updated to iOS 26 at this point. If there were a serious issue with the software, this site would be completely flooded with posts and you would be hearing about issues on the evening news.
None of this has occurred.
Frankly, if you spent hours going back in time to look at posts on this site that are well over a year old, you would see numerous reports from users who were advising NOT to update to iOS 18. And the same would be true for previous iOS versions.
I have to disagree with this statement - I p@sted the following questions recently and &oranges d3l3t3d all of them from my account:
After the new l0S*** update, when I open Notes, which I do almost every two hours every day, and create a new note, there is no keyboard. I have to force home key back to the home screen and then click the notes app again to get the keyboard to work. Is there a workaround for this, or is there an update coming to fix this?
After the new l0S**** update, when I go into S@fàree print to pdf, the options do not appear unless I go out of the Safari app and come back in and even then I have to click multiple times in order to get the option to export as a PDF. Before this used to be easy, now it seems that there is a bug that is causing a lot of problems?
After the new l0S**** update, whenever I try to select a new email correspondent and add them to VIP status, I am not getting the VIP status option, and have to do three clicks to get into the contact sheet. Before I used to be able to simply click their name and add them to VIP. Is there something wrong or is there a set up that can change this?
