Siri on HomePod requires repeating requests multiple times to get a response.

I have had HomeKit with HomePods in my house for more than four years. But recently Siri on HomePod requires repeating requests multiple times to get a response. Over the past few months it has become increasingly difficult for Siri to respond to a simple request using the four HomePod minis in my house. Sometimes I must repeat the request four or five times to get Siri to respond. This is not due to background noise, poor annunciation, or the volume of my speech. It’s as if Siri does not hear “Hey Siri” or “Siri” until repeated multiple times. So what has caused this change with Siri?

Thank you for your thoughts. I generally say “Siri” (not “Hey Siri”) to make a HomeKit request. But in the past few months the Siri application often does not seem to wake when making requests. My voice has not changed. There is no background noise. It just seems as if Siri has nodded off or is day dreaming. Sometimes I feel like an elementary school teacher trying to get the attention of an eight year old student. This behavior seems to be coincident with the release of iOS 26 and it persists with OS 26.2.

I have grown weary of existing in Siri’s manifestation of purgatory. I'm ready to experience Craig Federighi's promise "to deliver a much bigger upgrade than we envisioned.” We can only hope it comes very soon.
