iPhone 17 Pro - Bluetooth & Wi-Fi Connection Issues

I purchased an iPhone 17 Pro in October 2025. Since purchasing, the Bluetooth and Wi-Fi functionality regularly turns itself off and on, disconnecting from networks and/or devices. If I turn Wi-Fi off, the Bluetooth becomes more stable. If I turn Bluetooth off, the Wi-Fi becomes near constant stable. It's as if the N1 chip can't cope with both on. Low Power Mode affects things further.

Bluetooth at times (even with Wi-Fi off) can connect and disconnect sometimes every few seconds which makes the functionality unusable. That said, I can also sometimes experience no issues for around an hour of which I suspect may be when there are few other devices nearby (remote walks).

Early on, when I could find time, I contacted Apple Support who talked me through resetting and adjusting settings. That didn’t help.

I then waited out the next iOS update hoping that would solve the issue. That didn't change much.

I’ve regularly been ‘forgetting’ networks and devices, reconnecting them, and often hard resetting my phone in hope that resolves things. It doesn’t.

All said networks and devices connect to Macs and previous iPhone models with no issues.

Wi-Fi: Connecting to 2.4Ghz or 5Ghz networks doesn't seem to make a difference.

Bluetooth: The Bluetooth devices are most commonly just my Apple Watch and AirPods Pro, however the issue also occurs when connecting to my car (Bluetooth audio, not CarPlay).

For how expensive this product is, and the expectation of Apple that ‘it just works’, this experience has been anything but positive. At this stage, disappointingly, I’ll have to return the faulty product for a refund when I can find time, and restore a former model I own that worked with all previously mentioned networks and bluetooth devices. The #%* around to do all that is not ideal.

Has anyone else had similar experiences, and found any work arounds?

My confidence in buying new release Apple Hardware of which I had often done across their portfolio for myself and my business in the past has certainly changed.

Do you have a 3rd party VPN installed, even if you are not using it? If so, delete the VPN profile in Settings/General/VPN & Device Management/VPN, then restart your device. Don't just turn it off; delete the profile. Updates sometimes need to have VPN to be removed and reinstalled. If that fixes it, you can try reinstalling VPN, but probably shouldn't.

Thanks for that. I did take it into an Apple Store Genius Bar on 23/12. They advised the same. I spent the entire day on the 24th completely erasing all content and re-installing my iPhone from the iCloud back-up followed by lots of media syncing. Unfortunately, the issue still occurs. Wi-Fi and more commonly Bluetooth drop out regularly.

What about any apps like Anti-Virus or cleaner apps? Anti-Virus apps are tied to VPNs themselves and should be removed if you have one. They're also completely not needed.

Nope, no anti-virus or cleaner apps ever installed.

I wish anyone here could tell you why this is happening, but from our living rooms on this user to user only forum, it's not possible for us to diagnose. Personally, we have iPhone 17 Pro and Pro Max, iPad Pro M5, iPad Air M3 all new and none have any issues with Wifi or Bluetooth connections.

Probably a difficult thing to suggest, but since you restored the phone from an iCloud backup and it didn't help, the next thing I'd do is restore the phone back to new and set it up manually, NOT from backup and just sign in to the phone with your Apple ID, but not add anything back and see if the problem persists. If the problem goes away, there may have been something in your backup which doesn't play well with the new phone. Once you determine it runs with the stability it should, you can then download the apps from the App Store and turn on iCloud syncing options for things like photos, messages, etc.

Confirming I have reset the phone to factory settings and have setup the phone from scratch not restoring from any previous back-up. Unfortunately, the Bluetooth functionality dropping out, more commonly in busy environments still happens. Again, it's the entire Bluetooth functionality (ie, the Bluetooth icon goes white and devices drop out, then after 10-50 seconds, the Bluetooth icon turns blue and starts to reconnect to known devices).

I've now annoyingly got a fairly blank phone (no mail setup, no additional apps setup), where Bluetooth continues to turn itself off/on intermittently. It seems that if the 'Apple Diagnostics' test comes up with 'no issues' then it's up to the customer to either live with the fault and/or troubleshoot the matter themselves.

Are you unable to demonstrate this behavior to Apple at the Apple Store? I have no less than 8 Bluetooth devices connected to my iPhone 17 Pro Max and not once has there been any dropout at any time. It would seem your phone should be replaced, but I think you'd need to be able to demonstrate the issue to Apple.
