Window position not retained after switching KVM hosts

I have a Studio MAX M4 purchased in April 2025 running Sequoia 15.7.2. For the first six months, it was running just fine through my dual-monitor KVM switch. All the windows came back where I left them when I'd switch machines, and the Finder bar was accessible along the bottom of both displays.

About a month ago (November-ish 2025), the Finder was suddenly available only on the primary monitor.

More disturbingly, at about that same time (but maybe not exactly?), the mac stopped remembering my window positions. When I switch machines and come back, all my windows are clustered together on the primary display. It's as if the KVM didn't support EDID. However, the KVM *DOES* support EDID, and the other 3 machines that share that KVM seem to work just fine with EDID. I even tried swapping ports between the mac and a Windows box, but the problem follows the mac.

Are these two things related? How can I fix the window position problem? It's frustrating enough that I've started using the mac only when absolutely necessary, which is a shame.
