I wouldn't know the answer to your question. Apple recommends NEVER letting the battery go below 20% as doing so can harm and prematurely age the battery in your iPhone. So I've honestly never let my phone deplete to the point it shuts off. I see no reason to purposely damage the battery in my iPhone.

The more important question (aside from why don’t you charge your phone often enough to prevent this being a recurring issue) is what is the battery health percentage of your device? If it’s less than 80% you need to have your battery replaced.

I suggest never letting your charge fall below 20%.

When was the last time that you replaced the battery?

What is the current Maximum Capacity of the battery? Settings > Battery > Battery Health & Charging.
