How to make folder/file size visible in Icon view?

In Finder's menu bar, click View > Show View Options (or ⌘J), then check mark the box for "Show item info".

Yes, another look and I see that "Show item info" in icon view displays file size for only some files and displays the number of items contained within a folder, not the size of a folder. So as far as I can tell, macOS doesn't consistently provide the size info that the author is looking for in icon view.

One might find some add-on utility to display size for all items, or one could simply use another view option.
