How to share solution of problem I solved when original threads did not solve problem but are all locked?

There is an issue with copying contacts in MacOS 26. The issue I have now is that the problem has persisted for a while (years) and several people have had the same issue that I had, but the discussions have all been locked so I don't know how to post the simple work-around.

The problem appears when you are trying do duplicate a list from iCloud on a Mac running Tahoe. When you do a simple <command-a> on "All iCloud" and then try to create a new list using "create list from selection" or dragging it to another list it fails. The work around is to first deselect your own card -- My Card -- from the selection. Is there a way to add this solution to the community?

This site has its challenges but some of them are self-inflicted. Other (lesser, of course) user-to-user product support sites have a more visible means of communicating solutions to problems. This one has regrettably moved in the direction of a popularity contest that tends to obscure or bury actually useful replies under a bunch of louder, less useful ones.

In your case I suggest posting a new Discussion with a descriptive title, and perhaps [Solved] as its very first word. The body of the post can describe the procedure. You might also include a link to the unresolved Discussion that became locked due to age or disinterest.

With a bit of luck others will give that post and its solution a "thumbs up" or whatever the current fad might be, making it easier for everyone to find.

User Tips (under Create Tip) would be ideal for the purpose (those other lesser sites often refer to them as "stickies" etc) but to me they seem difficult to find here. I'm not sure if you have to reach a certain "level" to create them though.
