How can I get rid of a printer icon that appears in my menu bar since upgrading to macOS 26 please?

Since I upgraded to macOS 26 a printer icon has started to appear in my menu bar whenever I am printing.

It is utterly pointless because the printer icon pops up in my dock when I am printing, and tells me exactly the same thing.

How do I get rid of the menu bar printer icon please?

(I have, naturally, looked in Settings>Menu Bar, but 'Printer is not one of the items in the list there. And there is nothing I can see in Settings>Printers & Scanners about a menu bar icon either.)

You can try holding the Command key and drag it off.

I noticed the icon removes itself after awhile if you are finished printing.

Apple decided there should be a print center icon in the menu bar during printing, but didn’t provide a way to disable it. Only Apple can change that.

I have done so, like you I see no need for it.
