Plot subset of data without dragging thru the table

I've got a large table (30,000 x 8). I want to make an xy plot of a subset, say rows 1400 to 1900, columns 3 and 4. Dragging thru the table is a pain. I've not been successful at editing the x value or y value fields under the Data portion of the Series in the Formatter. Is there some way to edit those fields to simplify the plotting? Or some other way to automate selecting the data?

You can type in a reference to the cells you want to plot.

On your graph, select the series you want to edit (you'll need to edit each series individually), then check Inspector ->Series. Here's my mini-example:

You can see this series is plotting cells A2:A13 from Table 1

You can click this field, delete the reference, then type in any other reference to use instead. Here I type in 'Table 1::F2:F19

When you click the green checkmark (or press return twice), Numbers will update the chart with the new data.

Unfortunately, it isn't possible to edit the reference in situ (i.e. I can't edit "Table 1::F2:F19" to be "Table 1::F2:F18", I have to retype the entire reference), but it's still probably quicker than dragging over 500 cells.
