iTunes Match - music on iMac not syncing to music app on iPhone

I subscribed to iTunes Match (I do not have an Apple Music subscription) and I am attempting to sync my iMac library onto the Apple Music app on my iPhone. I selected sync library on both but it is not uploading/transferring the music from my iMac to my iPhone. I have tried researching the issue and have taken basic troubleshooting steps but I cannot figure it out. Does anyone know how I can get my iMac music library to sync to Apple Music? The items on my iMac library includes CDs I imported and music I downloaded from SoundCloud
