Can Mac Studio use an old Mac's monitor?
I have an old Mac desktop looked to renew but I see I just need a box (studio). Can I just plug that into my old Mac or do I need an new monitor
iMac 27″ 5K, macOS 13.7

Your tag line says that you have a 27" iMac with a 5K Retina screen.
Target Display Mode went away when the first 27" 5K Retina iMac came out in Late 2014. Even if your "new" Mac was an Intel-based Mac with a hardware model year of 2019 or earlier, running Catalina or earlier, you wouldn't be able to use that iMac as a Target Display.
Which is unfortunate, because those 27" 5K screens were really nice. The 27" 5K Apple Studio Display has much the same screen, but it costs $1599+ USD – nearly as much as some 27" 5K iMacs did, back in the day. There are now a few third-party 27" 5K (5120x2880) screens – from LG, Samsung, BenQ, Asus, and ViewSonic, but they are probably all still fairly expensive compared to 27" 4K ones.

You’ll need a new monitor. Using the built-in monitor of an iMac is no longer supported on Apple Silicon Macs.
