Mail app's 'mail.savedState' folder appeared on desktop

A folder mysteriously appeared on my desktop that looks like it should be deep inside the system. It’s something to do with Mail application is my guess. The final part is “mail.savedState”. Should this be put back where it came from? Any guess how it got there?
