iPad Pro charging port repair in SW France?

I have an iPadPro 5th Gen 1Tb purchased about 3/4 years ago in the UK. Sadly there’s a lot of images stored on it which I can’t access because the charging port requires replacement and the battery is flat.

is there anywhere in SW France qualified to replace a charging port please? Pau would be ideal if possible.

The ‘repair by post ‘ option assumes return to an UK address which I’d rather not do if it can be avoided.

With a mobile device hardware issue, install the mobile Apple Support app and contact Apple using that. You can then optionally allow Apple technicians to have direct access to diagnostic data from your device.


Go to this page to find your nearest Apple Authorized Service Provider (AASP) or Apple Authorized Distributor (AAD) --> Find Locations


You may need to expand the map if it defaults to the UK, or select France at the bottom right of the page.


How to make a Genius Bar appointment

1. Go to Genius Bar Reservation and Apple Support Options - Apple

2. Go to "Get hardware help".

3. Select your hardware and continue selecting options requiring replacing parts until you see "Bring in for Repair"

4. Sign in with your Apple ID

Select your country (also look for "other" regions), then a product. If you don't see one that handles your issue then keep experimenting with selections until you reach one that gets you a chat session or a telephone call and get the representative to redirect you.

Note that sometimes Apple will simply replace a damaged unit with a refurbished one instead of actually refurbishing it. Any data on the unit alone is not likely to transfer if they do that.

Hopefully you have either an iCloud or iTunes backup of your iPad - as without it, recovery of photos from the device is unlikely. The iPad has an encrypted filesystem; entering the correct Passcode unlocks the iPad's security chip within which the only copy of the encryption keys required to access locally stored data reside. Unless the iPad can be successfully restarted and the Passcode entered, anything stored thereon will remain beyond reach.


For practical purposes, in lieu of repairing and returning your own iPad, Apple usually exchanges the iPad for a renewed/refurbished iPad of the same model and specification. The cost of the exchange is the same as would otherwise be charged for repair. Unless you have benefit of an active AppleCare plan, an out-of-warranty repair while expensive will be somewhat less than the cost of a replacement iPad.


As for out-of-warranty repair costs, Apple offers a fixed-price price repair. You can verify eligibility and cost for your region/country here:

If you have an active AppleCare+ plan, the cost of repair is reduced to a small excess/deductible fee.

I agree with the others— without a backup, conventional service procedures will not restore you images.


Instead let's focus on the charging port.

— Does it show physical damage like looseness or burned or broken contacts, or is it simply dirty?

— Are you using a charger with a power rating appropriate to your iPad?

— Have you tried different cables and chargers? Some non-Apple charging gear is sub-standard.
