iOS 26.2 (and all of 26) worst upgrade ever.

iOS 26.2 (and all of 26) is riddled with issues, bugs, lack of functionality, lags, etc. will apple start listening??

I already tried submitting multiple ‘feedback’ requests to apple, funnily enough, there is a character limit so you can’t actually describe all the issues in just one message. Says a lot about the issues.. not sure where to begin but the first one to point out as I’m typing this is the slow keyboard, lag in typing and displaying and the spacing of letters.

The screen delays, the swiping, the odd circle that stays around what you “click” as a bubble, the slow response in safari, the odd settings changes that NO one asked for. The constant “suggestions” from apple either in mail (no apple, I don’t need you to tell me to unsubscribe to every email I get I can make my own decisions) the car suggestion, and yes I have these turned off.. (trying to figure out how was a mission in itself because why would it be user friendly..)

The changing between apps is awful, slow and clunky, screens hang there without responding until they do. Not being able to change the way I want to display the date format on the locked screen, it’s my phone I want to use it how it suits me not how “apple thinks you want to use it”

I can keep going. It’s a rant I know but this is the first time there are SO MANY issues not just one here or there, that I had to do this.

I again repeat yes I have submitted feedback to the official channels. This is me sharing my frustrations with the community.

I just installed the update today and spent over an hour trying to fix all the screen display and other issues I dislike. If you haven't installed it yet, don't!!!! I researched the update online and most of the irritants are impossible to fix... all of which are Home Screen and keyboard related. So basically will be staring at them every minute of every use. I've never cursed so much at an inanimate object!

Good luck to all... and, Apple designers and executives... how could your focus group testing not pick up on this before approving and launching the update?!?

iOS/iPadOS 26.1 introduced a new setting that subtly changes the appearance of Liquid Glass:

Settings > Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass - select Clear or Tinted

If you are experiencing challenges with the new Liquid Glass UI, there are settings that can significantly improve the appearance and suppress the majority of unwanted effects:

  1. Settings > Accessibility > [Vision] Display & Text Size > Reduce Transparency - set to ON
  2. Settings > Accessibility > [Vision] Display & Text Size > Increase Contrast - set to ON
  3. Settings > Accessibility > [Motion] Reduce Motion - set to ON

Each if these settings can be used individually, or in combination. Setting Reduce Transparency alone (1) will likely suppress the majority of potential issues. The Reduce Motion setting (3), if used, will eliminate the "lensing" effects of the Liquid Glass UI. Experiment; you should find a combination that works for you.

I suggest that you begin with setting Reduce Transparency to ON - and then, if needed, experiment with additional use of one or more of the other options.

NB: The new Display & Brightness > Liquid Glass setting can only be changed/toggled while Reduce Transparency is set to OFF. You might find that setting Liquid Glass to Clear, prior to enabling Reduced Transparency to ON, may give the best result.

Liquid Glass will undoubtedly continue to evolve throughout the lifespan of iOS/iPadOS 26. Hopefully, Apple will provide additional controls over time to refine the visual aspects to suit the individual needs of end-users. Many have commented that while Liquid Glass is "pretty", it is arguably form over function - reducing legibility and usability for some users. Some here also strongly advocate for this new look; others express dislike, or have significant difficulty with its legibility.

If you have any constructive feedback concerning Liquid Glass, or would lime to see changes or additional flexibility in its configuration, you should submit comments via Apple's Product Feedback portal. For iPad:

The list comprises approximately 4000 posts across all iOS versions, indicating that the issue is not with the iOS but with device management.

No it doesn't!

There isn't anything even suggested in your list that it has anything to do with Device Management. What it does show quite well is certainly there is a case for users that are uncomfortable with any change in the way they use their device and will report that they hate the update. That has been consistent for years.

Also it is not uncommon for initial releases of new OS versions to contain bugs that are usually quickly resolved in the point updates that follow shortly after release. It happens every year. It seems you are suggesting from your list that any user reporting a problem with an update is due to their device being managed, and when another update resolved that bug apparently you think Apple has somehow removed this Device Management that was causing the problem. Makes no sense.

Get ready for the next major iOS release and you will see the same posts saying it is the worst update ever and it has NOTHING to do with device management.

I have the latest iPhone SE which I bought last year. The previous operating system allowed me to enlarge the character size on the keyboard for emails and texts. It used the full width of the screen in the landscape mode. This morning I discover the character size has shrunk and there seems to be no means of enlarging the size. Apple speak about ACCESS but this is a step backwards. For any one with visual or impairment of dexterity it is making any form of communication from the phone more difficult. the previous levels of keyboard access need to be restored! Please!

I can’t get photos to save to my phone. Forcing everything to iCloud. I cloud photos not accessible anywhere on my phone. Can’t wait to stumble into all the other issues awaiting. This is seriously the first thing I tried to do in my phone after the update last night. Download photos sent via text to post on NextDood. Really cutting edge stuff I’m trying to do. My frustration is coming out.

Even before the update I couldn’t get Siri to work anymore in my phone, after the update Siri still is not working. It’s inconvenient especially when setting timers I have to manually do it.

Since this thread is about iOS 26.2 and you had an issue even before the update, your issue has little to do with the update, so you'd have more success if you started a new thread about your issue with Siri, where it would get more attention and support.

Hi, former Apple Store manger here (I’m retired) and I doubt any of the employees you ran into were working Apple Retail when the iPhone UI was changed back in 2013 when iOS 7 was introduced. In fact most were probably in elementary school. It’s simply the design Apple has chosen to go with, for now. Apple’s user base is literally over 1 billion users. Making a single user interface perfectly compatible for every user is literally impossible. Apple will make changes (or not make changes) based partially on the feedback they receive through their official channel, linked below and good luck.

Unable to add appointments to calendar. Getting a weird set up page. Doesn’t allow changes. This is a horrible update. Please fix it! Pro 15

You are going to need to provide much more information. Nobody knows what weird set up page you are referring to. If we did we may be able to help and provide a fix for you. If this was a bug in iOS, we would all be seeing it (along with the millions of other users), but I have no problem adding appointments to the Calendar, just like I was able to do with iOS 18.

Cannot set events/appointments in calendar. Stinks!

There is absolutely nothing in iOS 26.2 which prevents setting calendar events. NOTHING. If it was an iOS 26.2 issue, it would prevent everyone from doing so, but it's not. I think you're the first person to suggest you can't add a calendar event. So, there has to be something else which is preventing you, like perhaps:

Settings > Screen Time > Content & Privacy Restrictions > Calendars - make sure Allow Changes is marked Allow.

I wish to go back to iOS 18! This iOS 26.2(all of 26) is be difficult to navigate. I don’t care for the shadows, the pre text (Help me write) and I don’t like the automatic changes that happen with the updates. Every time I do an update changes are made on my phone that I didn’t ask for or change. One in particular is not seeing at the top of my phone who is calling, I can’t even answer because I don’t see it only hear the ringtone. PLEASE put this back to an updated USER FRIENDLY operating system. Thank you

Did you read past the first post? Clearly not. You cannot downgrade. Apple has never supported downgrading. You have to know Apple owns iOS, not us users. And every year, when the next major iOS version is released, it goes through months of user Beta testing before it is released to us the general public. Yes, things change. And every year when they do, people complain because things changed. Yet, we all somehow manage to learn what's new and how to use the iOS version we've been given.

Yes, things change with updates and that is also true for Android phones, Windows computers and Mac computers. Companies that do not continually evolve with technology are viewed as stagnant and don't last very long. Think Blackberry (RIM).

You can even look back on this Support Site when iOS 18 was released and see the same posts where some hated it and wanted to go back to the previous version. Yet, we all seem to adapt and now that is the iOS version you want to go back to. Wait until the next major release and it will all start over again.
