Photos Missing RAW Support for Sony FX3A

Photos does not currently support RAW files from the Sony ILME-FX3A which came out in mid 2025. This seems like it should be an easy code update as the ILME-FX3 is already supported and this update was mostly about slightly updating the screen on the camera. How can I get this on the radar of the Apple Photos development team for support? Thanks!

The raw output is one of the characteristics that defines a camera model. It needs to be written from scratch. To be blunt, adding raw support does not seem to be a priority these days for Apple. So, some cameras are never supported, some partially supported and some fully so.

Options: Convert the raws to DNG with Adobe's free converter.

or

Use a third party app to manage these (and if you wish) all you photos. Apps like Adobe's Lightroom and Lightroom Classic, CaptureOne, DxO Photo Lab, Mylio and others have their own raw support and tend to be faster and more complete in the support they offer, but then they ought to be as you pay for them. Also consider the software that the maker of your camera recommends, which is most likely free and there are also open source options too.

No harm in requesting raw support:
