MacBook Air M2: CNN website unresponsive

I have a MacBook Air M2 running Sequoia 15.7.3

EVERY time I am on CNN website using my subscription I have to force quit the web site because it becomes unresponsive. I have cleared the cache. Cleared all history and the problem still occurs. This is the only site I have this problem with.

McAfee is one of the worst things you can have on a Mac, along with any other so-called AV apps. They are all 100% worthless on a Mac. Get rid of it.

What you should install is an ad blocker. They prevent sites from spending more than 50% of their time feeding your browser ads. Currently, I use 1Blocker. It's on the App Store and free if you use only the option to block ads. The other features (which I don't find useful or necessary) can be activated with an In-App purchase.

CNN is an overly elaborate site, with many simultaneous videos playing, lots of ads (some of which are also videos), and for me (I don't log in on CNN) using an older Macbook Pro 16" 2019 (Intel), at times the site is downright sluggish. That said, the site does work for me. I have a fairly vanilla Mac setup. I suggest you carefully go through all the Safari (or whatever browser you are using) settings and preferences. Safari allows users to set individual settings for specific web sites. Also, look over any browser extensions installed, maybe trying uninstalling all of them to try to remove possible causes.

Trying different browsers might shed some light. Which browser are you using?

If your Mac has any network security tools, VPN, network monitors, "cleaning software," or anti-virus, as a troubleshooting step I would uninstall (not just disable) them all. (They can always be reinstalled, although I would not recommend using any of those types of tools).

Thank you. I’m using Safari as my browser. No extensions No VPN.
Running Mcafee for virus protection. I’ll keep digging but problem still exists.
Of course I have a new subscription with them now 🙄

Uninstall McAfee. It likely is contributing to your issue. Third party apps that claim to protect, clean, boost performance use system resources while providing no benefit. And such apps may cause problems.
