Apple Watch not recording distance during open water swims

I am using Apple Watch series 11 os 26.2. I swim open water. The watch records the track that I swim in open water, but not the distance. I have been using this watch for a month. Previous watches did record distance. The watch records the distance for other workouts, eg walking.

Any tips, please?
