The Passwords application requires the computer's login password, not the Apple Account password. For reference, any stored copy would need to be local; the one on Apple's servers has been run through a one-way encryption algorithm and can't be retrieved.

My bad. Yes, you are correct.
Your Passwords app or keychain should have your Apple account password in it and retrievable. You do need your login password or the keychain password if you happen to have changed that which I’m not sure is even possible anymore.
Everything else you stated should be true for any Internet based service where you use a password to login.
Open the Apple Password app and locate the AppleID. You should be able to reveal it there.
The same should hold true of any other password manager if you are using one.
Yes but wouldn’t the OP need their Apple ID (Apple Account) password to open the Password app so they can find their Apple ID password? Wouldn’t they need to use Touch ID or some other biometric instead?
