Firmware upgrade from Brother Dec 2025 - Laser HL-L2460DW no longer works

Firmware upgrade in December 2025 from Brother for HL-L2460DW Laser - no longer working with MacOs 26.2 . Need Airprint as well . Any others experiencing this and any workarounds?

You only need to use AirPrint with that Brother L2460DW Printer.

Make sure the Brother L2460DW is connected to your local Wi-Fi Network, then reset the Mac's printing system.

This is what worked for me. I also made sure duplex was toggled on.


  1. System Settings → Printers & Scanners
  2. Remove any Brother printer entries
  3. Click Add Printer
  4. Go to the IP tab

Fill in as:


Protocol: HP Jetdirect-Socket

Address: 192.xxx.x.xxx:xxxx (what is found on your printer in settings)

Name: Brother HL-L2840DW

Use: Generic PCL Printer
