Time Machine failure stops AirPlay to B&O A9

I used my Time Machine for years, with very good results, before doing my backups on iCloud. One of the used I had for the Time Machine is that it was perfect to manage my legacy AirPlay products, and my Bang & Olufsen A9 second generation speaker, so I could stream Spotify to it. The HDD on the Time Machine started making mechanical noises and the product died. Now I can't stream to the A9 and Bang and Olufsen are useless when I ask for their support. I hope someone in this community may have a good suggestion. Thanks in advance for considering this. Gerardo

The names that Apple uses can be confusing, but the device that you are calling a "Time Machine" is actually a product that was called a Time Capsule.

Time Machine is software that is used to back up your Macs. A Time Capsule is hardware......a wireless router with a built in hard drive that could be used to store backups made using Time Machine.

The Time Capsule was a unique product. No other manufacturer offered a similar device, so replacing the Time Capsule with a third-party product would be a no go.

A good repair shop will have no trouble replacing the defective hard drive in your Time Capsule, so that might be one option to consider.

Another possibility would be to look for a suitable used Time Capsule on eBay.
