MacBook Air: Can't connect iPhone 16 for iPhone Mirroring

I got and set up a MacBook Air and connected it to my iPhone 13. The iPhone Mirroring worked perfectly but a week later I got a new iPhone 16. So I went to the iPhone mirroring settings and disconnected my 13, but then when I went to connect my 16, it says "unable to connect to iPhone, not now or try again." I restarted my new phone and MacBook, but nothing worked. Both devices are on the same wifi and I think I have checked all of the settings to make sure everything is right so now I am kind of stuck, please help!

MacBook Air 13″, macOS 15.7

Double-check your mirroring setup against this guidance from Apple: iPhone Mirroring: Use your iPhone from your Mac - Apple Support In particular look at the system requirements. Is your iPhone OS up to date? Is your macOS up to date at 15.7.3?
