After 15.7.3 update, Disk Utility requires login password on launch

After updating from 15.7.2 to 17.5.3, now when launching Disk Utility it requires my login password before I can use it. This is new behavior. Is there any way to prevent this and restore the previous behavior (no password required)? 2022 M2 MacBook Air.
