Canon PIXMA Pro 10-S printer drivers updated, affecting Tahoe users on Sequoia OS

UPDATE ON TAHOE AND CANON PIXMA PRO 10-S

Canon have finally updated their website for printer drivers and Tahoe. It's bad news, I'm afraid. Having just bought a full set of photo inks, I'm now wondering what to do about upgrading my OS. I'm still on Sequoia, and was hoping to upgrade. I'm already finding the colours aren't how I would wish on my photo printing from Lightroom. Sadly, I've only recently ordered a full set of ink for a presumably redundant printer...

Advice welcome.

With that 10-S networked (Ethernet or Wi-Fi), that PIXMA Pro-10 is already supported by Apple's built-in AirPrint service. No Canon printer drivers are necessary. AirPrint is on Sequoia, and Tahoe 26.2 and both operating systems support my networked laser printer and USB-connected Canon LiDE 400 scanner with AirPrint.

Steps:

  1. System Settings > Printers & Scanners
    1. Remove the Pro 10-s device from the Printers listing
    2. Click the Add Printer, Scanner, or Fax… button
    3. Apple's Bonjour service should detect and display a line with your Pro-10-s.
    4. Click that item 3 entry and the Use: selector will automatically configure AirPrint.
    5. Click Add

Looks like this in animation for my ancient Samsung laser printer setup:

If there is something specific to the Canon drivers that give you much greater control over your Pro 10-S than AirPrint's panel, that may be an issue for you on Tahoe. Try AirPrint on Sequoia to test this thought.
