Apple Watch 6 Workout app: Siri mile updates fail

Workout app on Apple Watch 6 (watchOS26.2) does not read out updates after every mile.

The watch will give me the quick vibrate, but I do not get Siri's voice feedback on what mile I just completed, what my pace for the last mile, or average pace is. I have checked all my settings, made sure to disable any focus settings that would block notifications and done a reset after updating my settings.
